Kyrgyzstan’s human rights record to face scrutiny by UN body
GENEVA (3 March 2014) – Kyrgyzstan’s human rights record will face the scrutiny of the United Nations Human Rights Committee for the second time on Monday 10 March and Tuesday 11 March in meetings that will be webcast live.
UCA’s Institute of Public Policy and Administration Hosts Policy-Making Process in Government Symposium
On 24 December 2013, the University of Central Asia’s Institute of Public Policy and Administration (UCA-IPPA) hosted a symposium on Policy-Making Process in Government in the Kyrgyz Republic. The symposium was organised within the framework of UCA’s Research and Public Policy Initiative, and is the first in a series which will take place in the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan and Afghanistan. Held in Bishkek, it was attended by representatives of ministries, state committees, business associations and civil society, as well as independent experts.
Evaluation Reports on Applications of Kyrgyz Republic for Investment Loans
The EurAsEC Anti-Crisis Fund has published Evaluation Reports on Applications of Kyrgyz Republic for Investment Loans financed with Resources of the Fund for two projects – “Rehabilitation of Bishkek-Osh Road Section, Phase IV”, in the amount of US$ 60 million, and “Funding of Farming Machinery Supplies to Kyrgyz Republic”, in the amount of US$ 20 million.
The recently appointed Governor of Naryn, Amanbai Kayipov, visited the Naryn campus site of the University of Central Asia (UCA) on 22 January 2014. Construction is underway at the site and the campus is scheduled to open in 2016.
EBRD launches inaugural bond issue in Armenian Drams
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has issued its first-ever bond in Armenian Dram (AMD), helping to drive forward the development of the local capital market and providing funds for the EBRD’s own lending to the Armenian economy in local currency.
