December 8, the opening ceremony of the building of the Fire and Rescue Unit No. 31 in Cholpon-Ata took place in the framework of KOICA’s “Improvement of fire safety of population by strengthening the capacity of the Fire and Rescue Services in the Kyrgyz Republic" project.
А new two-story building meets all safety requirements and has been fully equipped with furniture and office equipment, as well as sports equipment for firefighters. Earlier in July, a rescue vehicle was also provided. A fire truck is expected to arrive by the end of the year.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea Lee Won-jae, Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic Boobek Ajikeev, Head of Issyk-Kul District Japarbek Ormonov, UNDP Resident Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic Alexandra Solovieva and KOICA Country Director Yi Jongsu have attended the ceremony.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea Lee Won-jae has remarked that he hopes through this project three parties will make a significant contribution to improving the fire safety of the population in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Note: “Improvement of fire safety of population by strengthening the capacity of the Fire and Rescue Services in the Kyrgyz Republic" project aims to reduce the vulnerability of the population to fires and create conditions for sustainable development with a budget of 7,7 mln USD for 2019-2024 through modernizing fire and rescue protection facilities and equipment and strengthening fire-fighting capacity to protect the population.
