On January 26, the opening ceremony of the building of the Fire and Rescue Unit No. 85 in Osh city took place in the framework of KOICA’s “Improvement of fire safety of population by strengthening the capacity of the Fire and Rescue Services in the Kyrgyz Republic" project.
А new two-story building meets all safety requirements and has been fully equipped with furniture and office equipment, as well as sports equipment for firefighters. Last year, a rescue vehicle was also provided. A fire truck was handed over during the opening ceremony.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea Lee Wonjae, First Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic Azamat Mambetov, Vice Mayor of Osh city Nurbek Kadyrov, UNDP Resident Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic Alexandra Solovieva and KOICA Country Director Yi Jongsu attended the ceremony.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea Lee Won-jae remarked that Osh is a major city in the Kyrgyz Republic, and Osh fire station would play an important role in protecting residents of the Osh region from various fires and disasters based on the latest infrastructure and operating equipment.
Note: “Improvement of fire safety of population by strengthening capacity of the Fire and Rescue Services in the Kyrgyz Republic" project aims to reduce the vulnerability of the population to fires and create conditions for sustainable development with a budget of 7,7 mln USD for 2019-2024 through modernizing fire and rescue protection facilities and equipment and strengthening fire-fighting capacity to protect the population.
