On March 15, the opening ceremony of the building of the Fire and Rescue Unit No. 65 in Suzak village took place in the framework of KOICA’s “Improvement of fire safety of population by strengthening the capacity of the Fire and Rescue Services in the Kyrgyz Republic" project.
А new two-story building meets all safety requirements and has been fully equipped with furniture and office equipment, as well as sports equipment for firefighters. Previously, a rescue vehicle and a 5-ton fire truck were handed over.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea Lee Wonjae, Minister of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic Boobek Ajikeev, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic in Jalal-Abad region Absattar Syrgabaev, Head of Suzak district Baratbek Sydyknazarov, UNDP Resident Representative in the Kyrgyz Republic Alexandra Solovieva and KOICA Country Director Lim So Yeon attended the ceremony.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea Lee Wonjae noted that Suzak district is the most populated area in the Jalal-Abad region and believes that the new fire station will be an important step in strengthening the fire-rescue infrastructure of the area.
Note: “Improvement of fire safety of population by strengthening the capacity of the Fire and Rescue Services in the Kyrgyz Republic" project aims to reduce the vulnerability of the population to fires and create conditions for sustainable development with a budget of 7,7 mln USD for 2019-2024 through modernizing fire and rescue protection facilities and equipment and strengthening fire-fighting capacity to protect the population.
