On 14 May, a high-level delegation from the Government of Switzerland will arrive in Bishkek to strengthen cooperation ties with the Kyrgyz Republic and familiarize with the results of the Swiss-funded projects implemented in Kyrgyzstan.
The delegation will be composed of Ambassador Mr. Arno Wicki, Assistant Director General of the Swiss Development Cooperation SDC, and Mr. Martin Saladin, Head of Operations and Deputy Head of Economic Cooperation and Development at the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO.
The goal of their 4-day visit is to get to know the Kyrgyz Republic and see the progress of the Swiss-funded projects implemented in Kyrgyzstan.
The Swiss delegation will meet representatives of the Kyrgyz government to discuss development and economic cooperation issues. They will also meet representatives of the parliament, business sector, international organizations, and civil society.
Ambassador Arno Wicki and Mr. Martin Saladin will visit Swiss development projects implemented in Osh and Naryn provinces, in particular, in the sectors of water, infrastructure, tourism, private sector, and local governance. They will learn from local people who benefitted from these projects on how the Swiss support helped them to improve the quality of their lives.
During the trip, the Swiss delegation will also learn more about the Kyrgyz culture while visiting beautiful places in the country, especially the birthplace of Kurmanjan Datka.
