The goal of the two-day visit is to strengthen cooperation ties with the Kyrgyz Republic. Mr. Ignazio Cassis will conduct high-level meetings with the President of the Kyrgyz Republic H.E. Mr. Sadyr Japarov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Mr. Jeenbek Kulubaev in Cholpon Ata.
The Swiss Minister will also meet with representatives of international organizations, embassies, the business sector, civil society, and Swiss citizens living in Kyrgyzstan during a reception to celebrate the Swiss National Day.
During the mission, Mr. Cassis will familiarize himself with Kyrgyzstan and with the progress of the Swiss-supported projects implemented in the country, for over 500 million USD since 1994.
In addition, he will learn more about Kyrgyz culture and have the opportunity to discover the natural beauty of Kyrgyzstan, including Issyk-Kul Lake, mountains, and glaciers.
Mr. Ignazio Cassis has been heading the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland since 2017. He served as President of the Swiss Confederation in 2022.
