New playgrounds in the "Manas-Ata" neighbourhood of Osh opened

Published: 14 February 2025 г.

Two new and modern playgrounds have been built in the "Manas-Ata" neighbourhood of Osh, and one more has been completely renovated. The grand opening of the playgrounds took place on 14 February 2025.

The event was attended by representatives of the Osh city administration and local residents. This was a significant occasion for families in the neighbourhood, as children now have a safe and comfortable environment to play.

The project was initiated by the local community and implemented by the Osh city administration with the support of the Swiss Government. A total cost of the construction was 3.5 million soms, where 2.5 million soms was contributed by the Swiss Araket project, while the Osh city administration contributed 1 million soms.

The "Manas-Ata" neighbourhood is a densely populated area with multi-apartment dormitories, each housing more than 200 families. Previously, there were no designated play areas for children in this part of the city, forcing them to play on a sports ground across a busy road, posing significant safety risks. Local residents initiated the creation of a safe and accessible space for children, with support from the city administration.

The Swiss Araket project supports 11 new settlements in Bishkek and Osh, helping to improve the living conditions of local residents. The initiative is funded by the Swiss government and implemented in Kyrgyzstan by GFA Consulting Group in partnership with the NGO "Advocacy Center for Human Rights."
