National and international experts discuss challenges for vulnerable populations in access to justice

National conference entitled “Access to Justice for Vulnerable Groups of Population” will be organized on 27th September 2013 at “Ak-Keme” hotel from 9:00 to 17:30 in Bishkek. The conference is organized by the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia (EFCA) in the framework of the “Equal Before the Law: Access to Justice in Central Asia” project, implemented with the generous support from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland.

The national conference will be attended by the representatives of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland, Jogorku Kenesh (Parliament), the government of the Kyrgyz Republic, including ministries and departments, and nongovernmental and international organizations. The participants will have opportunity to discuss issues around citizen documentation and availability of professional legal aid for vulnerable and marginalized groups.
 
The conference will also host the presentation of the independent research results of situation with ensuring population with passports, birth certificates, and other documents. The research also analyzed how the absence of citizen documents influences their access to social welfare. Representatives of the State Registration Service will uncover the latest statistics on provision of citizens with necessary documents.

It is expected that the conference participants will generate a set of recommendations to improve the situation in the field of provision population with needed documents and access of vulnerable populations to a variety of social services.
