Sir Suma Chakrabarti will co-chair Foreign Investors Council in Kazakhstan, highlight EBRD commitment to Central Asia
The EBRD President, Sir Suma Chakrabarti, will visit Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic on 1-5 June 2015.
In both countries, President Chakrabarti will have high-level meetings with recently appointed governments to discuss the EBRD’s work and its strategic priorities.
He will re-confirm the commitment of the Bank to these two countries and the Central Asian region as a whole, as the EBRD deepens its focus on re-energising transition in its countries of operations.
In Kazakhstan, Sir Suma will also co-chair the Foreign Investors Council with President Nazarbayev on 4 June in Astana.
The EBRD delegation will also include the new Managing Director for Turkey and Central Asia, Natalia Khanjenkova, and the outgoing Managing Director for the region, Olivier Descamps.
President Chakrabarti will also meet the local authorities, representatives from other international financial institutions, and from the business and diplomatic community.
To date, the EBRD has invested over US$ 7 billion in Kazakhstan and over US$ 550 million in the Kyrgyz Republic.
