The Government of Switzerland launches a new project to improve public services at the municipal level in the Kyrgyz Republic

The Government of Switzerland is launching a new “Public Service Improvement Project” to provide assistance to local authorities in Jalalabad and Issyk-Kul oblasts.
 
The project is implemented by a consortium of organizations composed of Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation and Development Policy Institute and will work closely with selected municipalities in Jalalabad and Issyk-Kul oblasts to improve access and ensure provision of quality services that respond to demands of citizens.

The Public Service Improvement project is designed as a ten-year initiative and it aims to improve services of local significance such as waste collection, street lighting, housing and utility services, access to drinking water and other issues. It will contribute to overall improvement of life conditions in rural areas.

The project will work with a selected number of municipalities in Jalalabad and Issyk-Kul oblasts to improve their planning, delivery and supervision of services and enhance their cooperation with service providers and partners. Also it will involve citizens in defining, implementing and monitoring services at the municipal level.

Orientation trainings of the project in Jalalabad and Karakol will bring together representatives of selected municipalities, State Agency of Local Self-Governance and Interethnic Relations, Embassy of Switzerland in the Kyrgyz Republic, donor and local organizations to discuss public services provision and cooperation with the project.

The Public Service Improvement Project will be officially launched on 24th of June 2015 during orientation training in Karakol. The event will take place in the conference hall of the State Administration (105 Abdrahmanov str., Karakol) at 10:00.
