Staff of Bishkek Courts Reviewed Issues of Ensuring Judicial Act Transparency

The Public Foundation “Sustenance and Development of the Rule of Law”, in cooperation with the Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic, conducted a series of presentations of the Methodology of Monitoring and Evaluation of Publication of Judicial Acts and Information of Court Proceedings on the website www.sot.kg.
 
The participants were informed on monitoring principles, methods, cycles, stages and discussed why it was essential to improve the quality, credibility and accessibility of information, meet publication deadlines, and maintain consistency in publication of information on the website.
 
10 judges and 73 assistant judges, as well as courtroom secretaries from the 5 pilot local courts including the Bishkek Inter-district Court for Economic Cases, and courts of Pervomaisky, Sverdlovsky, Oktyabrsky, and Leninsky districts of Bishkek were trained on the methodology.

The training was delivered within the project “Promoting Transparency of and Public Access to Judicial Acts for Strengthening of People’s Confidence in Courts”. The project’s main goal is to contribute to ensuring the right of each person and citizen in obtaining reliable information on activities of government structures and their officials in compliance with constitutional principles of judge independence and non-interference with judicial proceedings; as well as transparency and accountability of government structures to people and implementation of their powers in favor of the latter.

The project is implemented by Public Foundation “Sustenance and Development of the Rule of Law” in close partnership with the Public Union “Center for Human Rights and Democracy” and Public Foundation “Public Analysis Institute” based on the trilateral Memorandum of Cooperation for Successful Implementation.

This project is supported by the Collaborative Governance Program (CGP) promoting effective collaboration among civil society, the private sector, and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, and the private sector of the Kyrgyz Republic. The Program is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID), and implemented by East-West Management Institute (EWMI).
