The communications and media sector in Central Asia is at an exciting crossroads, where young professionals have the opportunity to shape the global image of Central Asia by driving stories and broadcasting to the world. Tajikistan, the Kyrgyz Republic and Kazakhstan are rapidly adopting digital media technologies to increase their e-commerce footprint. And Central Asian businesses, media outlets, and governments are looking to hire young professionals who can produce intelligent, well-researched communications pieces with industry leading technology. The University of Central Asia’s Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Media allows you to take advantage of the numerous opportunities presented by this new media frontier. You will learn to think like a communication professional as you acquire skills in writing and critical thinking, as well as knowledge in media law, ethics and the political, economic, cultural and social character of Central Asian societies. You will also learn how to behave like a media professional as you learn the production skills to help you leverage low cost mobile and computer technology to produce high quality video, audio and graphic material.. UCA students will graduate equipped with the skills desired by media industries, including journalism, public relations, advertising, marketing communications, multi-media design, media production, media law and management.

UCA’s Communications and Media programme also works with students to help build subject matter expertise, which is crucial to strong communications and media professionals.  What are you passionate about?  Whether music, art, sociology, economics, politics, or law, UCA students can combine their interest with a degree in communications and media. You’ll have the chance to dig deeper and tell stories about a range of subjects.

The UCA programme mirrors current trends in the study and practice of media communications, and is designed to help connect students with high-quality jobs. Paid internships and dedicated learning projects will grant students substantial real-world experience in the industry before they graduate.
