On 13 December 2013 the opening ceremony of the Center for Development of Clinical Skills and Knowledge Assessment will be held in Bishkek at the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy named after I.K.Ahunbaev.
The center has been established by the Medical Academy with the support of the Embassy of Switzerland in the Kyrgyz Republic in the frame of the project “Medical Education Reform in Kyrgyzstan”. The project is implemented by the Medical Academy in partnership with the NGO “Initiative in Medical Education” and the Medical University of Geneva (Switzerland).
The Vice Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, Kamila Talieva, the Ministers of Health and of Education, Members of the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic as well as representatives of the Embassy of Switzerland, the Medical Academy and the mass media are expected to attend the opening ceremony.
The new center has been equipped to develop clinical skills in the early stages of learning and aims at computer-based testing. Future doctors-practitioners will be trained in the center and simulated patients will be involved to develop clinical skills. Based on case studies students will acquire practical skills for further work with actual patients in real hospitals.
The students' knowledge will be monitored through the “objective structured clinical examination”, which is used by many medical schools in the world. This method will improve the quality of teaching and the motivation of students studying medicine.
