Osh city - On July 11, 2017, at 10 a.m. the Public Foundation “DIA” (Demilgeluu Ishker Ayaldar) holds a roundtable to discuss the introduction of a new municipal service with representatives of aiyil okmotu (local self-government) to combat domestic violence. DIA is proposing to introduce the services of a psychologist and a lawyer in pilot ayil aimaks (rural self-governments) for working with victims of violence, as well as on prevention of domestic violence. The discussion will take place in the Resource Center "DIA" at the address: 1 Bayalinova Street, Osh city (Osh-Nuru Hotel).
This initiative is implemented as part of the project “Protecting Women from Domestic Violence” supported by the USAID Collaborative Governance Program. The additional municipal service is developed on the basis of an analysis of regulatory documents in the field of protecting women from domestic violence used in pilot ayil aimaks. The project is being implemented in the following six pilot ayil aimaks: Gulcha in Alai district; Joosh, Madyn and Nariman in Kara-Suu district, Kenesh in Nookat district, and Tort-Kol in Uzgen district of the Osh Oblast (province).
The Collaborative Governance Program (CGP) promotes effective collaboration among civil society, the private sector, and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic. The Program is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID), and is implemented by East-West Management Institute (EWMI).
