From July 18-20, 2017, the Public Association "Activist" will organize a study tour for 12 representatives of three Aiyl Aimaks (local governments) Sumbula, Ak-Suu and Toguz-Bulak Ayil Aimaks of Leilek district to the communities in Osh Oblast, who successfully introduced mechanisms to implement legislation on gender equity and prevention of domestic violence.
“Actvist” is organizing this study tour as part of a project "Assisting in prevention and reduction of domestic violence in Leilek district", launched in June 2017 with the support of the USAID Collaborative Governance Program.
In cooperation with the local government authorities of Leilek district of Batken Oblast and other stakeholders, the project will assist in adopting mechanisms that prevent domestic violence and ensure social and legal support to women – victims of domestic violence in three target Aiyl Aimaks. The project aimsto strengthen the potential of local government bodies in three target Aiyl Aimaks of Leilek district to prevent and reduce domestic violence in local communities.
The Collaborative Governance Program (CGP) promotes effective collaboration among civil society, the private sector, and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic. The Program is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID), and is implemented by East-West Management Institute (EWMI).
