Kara-Balta – on July 17, 2017, at 15 a.m., the NGO Human Rights Advisory Board will hold a roundtable with the representatives of Kara Balta Mayor’s Office, members of town kenesh (council) and civil society to discuss strengthening the prevention, detection and response to domestic violence. The roundtable discussion will take place in the Kara-Balta Mayor’s Office at the address: 14, Kozhomberdiev Street.
The NGO Human Rights Advisory Board will conduct this roundtable discussion as a part of the project “Access to legal assistance on the issues of domestic violence through active efforts of the town kenesh and Mayor’s Office of Kara-Balta”, implemented with the support of the USAID Collaborative Governance Program.
The participants of the roundtable discussion will become acquainted with the main tasks of the joint activity aimed at strengthening the system of coordination and interaction between local self-government bodies of the town of Kara-Balta on prevention, detection and response to domestic violence problems. The participants will also discuss ways of raising public awareness of the responsibility and role of local authorities and community institutions involved in addressing domestic violence problems. A constructive dialogue and joint efforts of the local authorities and civil society sector on combating domestic violence is an important condition for preventing and reducing the cases of domestic violence.
This roundtable is the beginning of the activities aimed at strengthening the interaction between representatives of Kara-Balta local authorities and the civil society sector and further enhancing their capacity to improve access to vulnerable groups for legal assistance on domestic violence.
The Collaborative Governance Program (CGP) promotes effective collaboration among civil society, the private sector, and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic.
