September 7, 2017 - Kyrgyz Association of Women Judges will launch a series of guest lectures on the judicial system in the Kyrgyz Republic in more than 24 schools across the country. The first guest lectures will be conducted at school #1 and #3 in Bakay-Ata district of Talas province, and the Arabaev school in Kochkor district of Naryn province. The main goal of the lectures is to improve the knowledge of students about the judicial system and the level of their legal awareness through live communication with judges and to raise the level of public trust in the judiciary.
The guest lectures will be provided as part of the project "Raising Awareness on the Judicial System of the Kyrgyz Republic" with the support of the USAID Collaborative Governance Program.
The judges plan to talk to over 1,200 high school students about the role of the judicial system and its structure, the importance of an independent judicial system, protection of human rights, the role of the judiciary in a citizen’s life and where people can obtain legal information and legal assistance (including Free Legal Aid Centers, online map of legal service providers of the Ministry of Justice, and the online resource of judicial acts sot.kg of the Supreme Court).
In addition, the Association will disseminate an illustrated booklet about the the judicial system in the Kyrgyz Republic, developed by the association to help kids understand the judicial system better.
The Collaborative Governance Program (CGP) promotes effective collaboration among civil society, the private sector, and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic. The Program is funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the United Kingdom Department for International Development (DFID), and is implemented by East-West Management Institute (EWMI).
