Bishkek - On December 19, 2017, the conference “Assessment of Interaction between Public Councils and Government Bodies in 2017” will start at 9:30 a.m. (TBC) at State Residency #1.
The event is held by the Public Councils of State Bodies and the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic with support of the USIAD Collaborative Governance Program.
The conference will bring together about 200 people including members of public councils, heads of state bodies, members of Parliament, and representatives of international and civil society organizations.
Welcome speeches will be delivered by Prime-Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Sapar Isakov, leader of the Bir Bol Parliamentary faction Altynbek Sulaimanov, Charge d’Affaires of the United States Alan Meltzer and others.
The participants of the conference will be familiarized with the Country’s Development Strategy for 2020-2040, with the activities of the public councils in 2017, and will discuss the draft Law on Amendments to the Law “On Public Councils”. The members of Public Councils will also raise the issue of the role of civil society organizations in implementation of activities as part of of Kyrgyzstan's membership in the Open Government Partnership.
Public councils are consultative and supervisory bodies created on a voluntary basis of representatives of civil society for interaction and cooperation with state bodies, as well as for public monitoring of their activities.
