Bishkek. The Center for Coordination of State-guaranteed Legal Aid under the Ministry of Justice will hold its regular meeting with representatives of more than 40 civil society organizations and university legal clinics. The main goal of the meeting is to improve interaction in order to more effectively provide legal assistance and ensure access to justice in the Kyrgyz Republic. The meeting will be held on February 21, 2019, from 9.00 to 13.00 in the Park Hotel at 87 Orozbekov St.
The participants plan to discuss and approve a regulation as well as an action plan of the civil society organizations network created to strengthen interaction between legal aid providers.
During the meeting, a new Government Decree of the Kyrgyz Republic “On Approval of the Procedures for Interaction of Entities of the State-Guaranteed Legal Aid System” will be presented. The decree provides a detailed description of the roles of all entities and procedures of interaction in the provision of legal aid.
The Center for Coordination of State-guaranteed Legal Aid will also present the list of documents entitling the right to receive competent legal assistance, aimed to ensure prompt and appropriate provision of legal aid to citizens.
The meeting is organized with the support of the USAID Collaborative Governance Program implemented by the East-West Management Institute in the Kyrgyz Republic and the UN Development Program and the Finland Foreign Ministry’s project “Towards Sustainable Access to Justice for Improving Legal Opportunities in the Kyrgyz Republic”.
