Deputy Head of Consular Affairs

The Swiss Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic is looking for a Deputy Head of Consular Affairs

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assess and review visa applications within agreed standards and timing. Analyze information, reach a decision quickly, and be able to justify this decision in writing (training will be provided);
  • Liaise with the external visa application center;
  • Provide consular assistance and advice related to civil registry and travel documents of Swiss citizens;
  • Deal courteously and professionally with all applicants, whether over the phone, via e-mail, or in person;
  • Provide accurate, timely, and appropriate advice in a customer-friendly manner, and make visitors feel welcome;
  • Correspond in German or French with Swiss authorities, as well as in English with applicants;
  • Provide general administrative support to the Embassy’s consular and administrative section.

Essential qualifications:

  • Due to internal regulations, the applicant needs to have Swiss or EU/EFTA citizenship;
  • Valid work permit for the Kyrgyz Republic;
  • B2 level in English, as well as either German or French;
  • Fluency in one of the State/official languages is an advantage;
  • Good IT skills (Microsoft Office);
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills (ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines under pressure, and manage competing responsibilities independently);
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to connect and work well with others;
  • Ability to consistently work with utmost precision, to remain calm, polite, and effective under pressure.

Location and conditions of employment: This position will be based in Bishkek. It will begin on 03/01/2025 and be a permanent position at 100 %, 40 hours per week.
