The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) is an international organization providing professional support to electoral democracy. In Kyrgyzstan, IFES is implementing a project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) aimed at strengthening the electoral legal framework and election administration practices by bringing them closer in line with international standards. Working with a diverse group of local partners, IFES will also continue efforts to reach underrepresented groups, including women, youth, and persons with disabilities to help foster more inclusive and accessible elections.
IFES/Kyrgyzstan is currently seeking to hire for a full-time staff position of Project Assistant.
REPORTS TO: Project and Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Manager
LOCATION: Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
Summary of Position
Under the supervision of the Project and Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Manager, the Program Assistant will provide programmatic backstopping for all activity areas in the project. S/he will assist in reporting and event-planning, monitor and report on local developments pertinent to the project, provide translation/interpretation services, and facilitate logistical/commodity procurements as needed.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of IFES programmatic activities in collaboration with Bishkek-based and HQ staff;
- Draft operational, quarterly, and annual reports;
- Provide verbal and written interpretations;
- Provide minutes and reports of meetings and conferences attended;
- Track and monitor the implementation of the IFES work plan under the funded project;
- Assist in the compilation and drafting of operational, quarterly, and annual reports;
- Assist IFES’ Project and Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Manager in monitoring and evaluation of IFES activities;
- Coordinate with partner organizations on an organizational level as a representative of IFES;
- Facilitate logistical/commodity procurements as needed, including drafting RFP/RFQ, preparing selection packages, and tracking existing contracts;
- Assist with outreach and communication of IFES’ activities in the Kyrgyz Republic, including content creation for factsheets, social media (X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Telegram, etc.), and external websites;
- Participate in knowledge management initiative(s) and assist with research (as needed) on thematic areas related to IFES core service lines;
- Provide administrative support as needed, including with travel/logistics needs; and
- Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Education: University diploma (preferably in English language/ public administration);
- Language: Excellent command of both English and Kyrgyz languages (written and oral); knowledge of other local/regional languages is a plus;
- Experience: 1-2 years of professional experience in international development or related field. Previous work experience with an international organization or civil society organization is
- Knowledge of political processes in the country and election-related experience will be an asset;
- Strong computer (MS Office, internet) and typing skills;
- Professional demeanor and appearance; and
- Be highly organized and able to work well in a team.
