Part-time English Language Teacher

Position Description

SUMMARY:

The C5 + O.N.E. (Opening Networks through English) English Language Teacher will be involved in a project that supports English language instruction for young professionals working in the fields of economic development throughout Central Asia. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing American English language instruction and will report to a Lead Teacher, based in Bishkek, who will provide training and mentoring during the program.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging and effective English language lessons to a diverse group of adult learners, focusing on both general English and English for Specific Purposes.
  • Deliver course materials and lessons that are student-centered, interactive, and challenging.
  • Provide regular feedback and support to students, identify areas for improvement, and help learners achieve their language goals.
  • Utilize a variety of communicative activities, such as group work, discussions, presentations, and role plays, to promote active and meaningful learning.
  • Create and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages learning and student engagement.
  • Implement new teaching methodologies and technologies in the classroom and facilitate student use of digital tools, such as Google Forms, Google Docs, and Google Classroom.
  • Use data tools to document attendance and student progress as part of the program’s monitoring and evaluation responsibilities.
  • Communicate with Lead Teacher and program staff on a regular basis and in a timely manner.
  • Submit requested documentation accurately according to deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • A completed bachelor's degree in education or a related field, and qualification as an English Language teacher
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching adults English as a Foreign or Second Language, preferably in a program focused on English for professionals
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Familiarity with current educational technologies and methodologies (e.g. student-centered learning, project-based learning)
  • Active participation in relevant professional development events, and interest in attending training and workshops
