As a German federal company, GIZ is supporting the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany to implement its tasks in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development.

Core tasks

In your role, you perform the specified commercial, organisational, and administrative tasks correctly and on schedule in collaboration and consultation with your line manager, in accordance with the project/programme objective and with due regard for legal, contractual, and internal requirements and procedures.

In this context, you organise all types of events that are planned in the project/programme, in accordance with GIZ’s rules and regulations, and are the contact person for all internal and external actors.

You are responsible for managing and updating the required files and data for your work area. You compile these files and data for evaluations, files, and statistics, in line with requirements, and observe the quality assurance standards that apply for documents.  

You cooperate constructively with all internal and external stakeholders in your area of responsibility and help work on the issues and tasks that arise in the project/programme. You ensure that information flows correctly, refer matters to other units as required, and ensure that all processes run smoothly. 

In response to enquiries, you provide general information within your specialist area based on established processes and with due regard for compliance rules. You also provide information and advice on internal workflows.

You provide support for knowledge management and ongoing process development in your area of responsibility. You also prepare and share documentation.

You perform the tasks assigned to you by your line manager, where required.

Main activities

  • Assists in programmatic tasks such as background reports, analysis.
  • Supports the team with desk research on project-relevant topics.
  • Drafts and maintains correspondence with national and international partners.
  • Supports organizational and logistical aspects of project activities such as: project coordination meetings, working meetings, trainings, workshops, seminars, conferences, public events, study tours, etc.
  • Documents events by writing minutes and protocols.
  • Helps prepare visitor programmes for international experts and partner organizations working within the project, and supports the visa process for international experts.
  • Assists in drawing up mission and travel schedules.
  • Translates and interprets consecutively for the project and international consultants from Kyrgyz and Russian into English and vice versa.
  • Files documents in reference files or in DMS in line with GIZ filing rules.
  • Assists in processing travel expense statements of staff and partners for approval by the Programme Manager.
  • Assists in preparing the project's internal and external audits.

Where appropriate and reasonable, the position holder is willing to perform tasks outside the scope of the job description.

Qualifications and specialist knowledge

  • University degree in a job-related field, such as business administration, public policy, development studies, water management, environmental governance, economics, etc.
  • Experience of working with international development project/programmes is an asset
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in the field of programmatic and administrative assistance, translation, and interpretation
  • Ability to express oneself well both verbally and in writing in English, Kyrgyz, and Russian; polished, target-group-oriented style; knowledge of German would be an asset
  • Very good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g., MS Office)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Ability to adapt easily to work under stress
  • Knowledge of GIZ procedures and regulations would be an asset.

Necessary information about the preconditions for recruitment

Duty station is Bishkek. 

Contract term is till 31.12.2026.
