Bishkek - On May 26, 2016, discussions will be held on the results of a legal and practical analysis of the current standards used in day care and social service institutions of the Kyrgyz Republic. The round table will be held from 9:30 to 14:00 at the Information and Methodology Center “ARDI” at 184-a, Akhunbaev Street, Bishkek.

The University of Central Asia (UCA) Board Executive Committee Executive Chairman and Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) Diplomatic Representative to the Kyrgyz Republic Shamsh Kassim-Lakha delivered a talk Creating Opportunity on the Roof of the World. He spoke in London on 20 May 2016 as part of the Aga Khan Foundation United Kingdom’s (AKF UK) Breaking the Cycle of Poverty lecture series.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is taking the first step towards developing a green financial system in Kazakhstan in partnership with the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) Authority.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is signing projects worth over ?350 million in Kazakhstan this week with investments that improve the quality of public services for the population, raise food quality standards and help combat climate change.

The EBRD and the government of Kazakhstan are continuing to support sustainable public utilities through an extension of existing projects with the Central Asian Electric Power Corporation (CAEPCO), the largest private sector energy corporation in the country, to modernise district heating in the cities of Petropavlovsk, Pavlodar and Ekibastuz. The project is expected to benefit over 500,000 residents in north-eastern Kazakhstan.

The EBRD and the government of Kazakhstan are continuing the modernisation of the country’s water and district heating systems with three new loan agreements signed today.

Osh - On May 26, 2016, roundtable discussions on the theme “Raising Awareness of Osh Entrepreneurs on the Use of Digital Signature” will be held at “Sun Rise” Hotel in Osh. The participants will discuss current problems and possibilities for using a digital signature (DS) for interactions of businesses with the government agencies, as well as learn about the legal framework that regulates the use of digital signature. The discussions are organized with the support of the Collaborative Governance Program, funded by USAID and DFID. 

The President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Sir Suma Chakrabarti, is visiting three Caspian states next week.
