On July 28, Kyrgyzstan held the fifth session of the interdepartmental expert group on implementation of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification.
On July 18, 2017, an official ceremony was held to inaugurate a cultural center that will benefit over 3’500 residents of Ottuk and Kara-Shaar villages of Ulahol Aiyl Aymak. Leisure and recreation services provided by the cultural center have been improved with the financial support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. The ceremony was attended by residents, representatives of the Ulahol municipality and local council, the Embassy of Switzerland to the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as the implementing organizations Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation and the Development Policy Institute.

Kara-Balta – on July 17, 2017, at 15 a.m., the NGO Human Rights Advisory Board will hold a roundtable with the representatives of Kara Balta Mayor’s Office, members of town kenesh (council) and civil society to discuss strengthening the prevention, detection and response to domestic violence. The roundtable discussion will take place in the Kara-Balta Mayor’s Office at the address: 14, Kozhomberdiev Street.
From July 18-20, 2017, the Public Association "Activist" will organize a study tour for 12 representatives of three Aiyl Aimaks (local governments) Sumbula, Ak-Suu and Toguz-Bulak Ayil Aimaks of Leilek district to the communities in Osh Oblast, who successfully introduced mechanisms to implement legislation on gender equity and prevention of domestic violence.
Kyrgyzstan hosts the Central Asian thematic workshop “Classic PR tools and a new language of interaction between governmental agencies and the media: data visualization” for representatives of the PR and press services of the governmental agencies and journalists from Central Asian countries on July 10-11 in Kyrgyzstan.
The Swiss Federal Councillor and Minister of Finance, Ueli Maurer, visits Kyrgyzstan on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the joint voting group in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank. The visit takes place from 9 to 10 July and included meetings with President Almazbek Atambaev, Minister of Finance Adylbek Kasymaliev, Governor of the National Bank Tolkunbek Abdygulov as well as with local entrepreneurs and opinion leaders.
Osh city - On July 11, 2017, at 10 a.m. the Public Foundation “DIA” (Demilgeluu Ishker Ayaldar) holds a roundtable to discuss the introduction of a new municipal service with representatives of aiyil okmotu (local self-government) to combat domestic violence. DIA is proposing to introduce the services of a psychologist and a lawyer in pilot ayil aimaks (rural self-governments) for working with victims of violence, as well as on prevention of domestic violence. The discussion will take place in the Resource Center "DIA" at the address: 1 Bayalinova Street, Osh city (Osh-Nuru Hotel).
