Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, 4 November 2014 – In a series of high-level meetings in Bishkek, His Highness the Aga Khan met with the Kyrgyz President Mr Almazbek Atambayev, Speaker of the Parliament Mr Asylbek Sharypovich Jeenbekov, Prime Minister Mr Djoomart Otorbaev and Minister of Education Mr Kanat Sadykov to discuss cooperation between the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN).
Naryn, Kyrgyz Republic, 3November 2014 –His Highness the Aga Khan, Chancellor of the University of Central Asia (UCA) today visited the Naryn campus, the first of UCA’s three new undergraduate campuses spread across the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.
Bishkek, 30 October 2014 – Today Representation of United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees and the Department of Registration of Population and Acts of Civil Status of the State Registration Service under the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic marked the launch of a global campaign on eradication of statelessness. It is hoped that with the help of this campaign 10 million currently stateless persons around the world will be able to enjoy the benefits of citizenship within a decade.

Naryn, Kyrgyz Republic, 22 October 2014 – Mr Amanbai Kaiypov, Governor of Naryn Oblast, officially received Mr Shamsh Kassim-Lakha, the Head of Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) Representation for the Kyrgyz Republic, during his working visit to Naryn.
EBRD loan and SECO grant will enable municipal water company to improve sewerage network and treatment. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) have joined forces to enable Khujand, the main city of northern Tajikistan, to modernise its sewerage network and to reconstruct an old wastewater treatment plant that had fallen into disuse after the collapse of the Soviet Union. This cooperation follows two previous successful projects by the EBRD and SECO to improve the city’s water supply.
