Jalal-Abad, Kyrgyz Republic - On May 25, 2017, at 10:00 a.m., Jalal-Abad State University inaugurates a Nonprofit Management (NPM) Resource Center. The Resource Center will provide informational and consultative support on nonprofit management issues. The Resource Center will also serve as a platform for guest lectures, conferences and discussions on different topics. The ceremony will take place at Jalal-Abad State University: 80, Manas str, mcr. Sputnik, Jalal-Abad city.
The certificates for grant support in the amount of over 14,5 million som were awarded to 15 municipalities of the Chuy province at the ceremony held on 17th of May 2017 in Bishkek.
On March 11-12, at the First Forum of the cities of Kyrgyzstan, the Osh Mayor’s Office and Public Union "Youth of Osh" presented an online map and mobile application “OshCity”, which enables Osh municipal services to receive online appeals, complaints and recommendations from the residents of Osh city. To improve interaction between city residents and municipalities in addressing various city issues, the www.map.oshcity.kg platform was designed by the Public Union “Youth of Osh” for the Osh Mayor’s Office with the support of the USAID Collaborative Governance Program (CGP).
Four cities to receive loans, grants and technical assistance for safe water and sanitation. Under its framework to support water and wastewater modernisation in the Kyrgyz Republic, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is providing financing for projects in four more Kyrgyz cities, with a total population of over 141,000 people. The European Union (EU) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) will jointly co-finance these projects, building on existing successful cooperation on EBRD-led projects.
Up to US$ 180 million to improve water supplies and build resilience to climate change. The EBRD is joining a strategic programme to significantly upgrade irrigation systems in Kazakhstan with a US$ 180 million financing package. Loan agreements were signed during the Bank’s Annual Meeting in Cyprus by EBRD First Vice President, Phil Bennett, and the Minister of Economic Affairs and Budget Planning of Kazakhstan, Bakhyt Sultanov.

When resident Sahil Keshvani and his parents discovered there toddlers needing support in Bishkek, they wanted to help. Instead of a typical celebration, his parents decided to celebrate his third birthday by making a meaningful difference. Together with family, friends and well-wishers, they raised more than 130,000 Kyrgyz soms for the Bishkek Children’s Centre, which houses social orphans.
