UCA Formally Hands Over Dasht Village Road to Khorog Municipality in presence of Khorog Mayor

Khorog, Republic of Tajikistan, 18 August 2014 – A new 2.5 kilometre road connecting the Khorog Intercity Road to the Dasht Village was completed by the University of Central Asia (UCA). It was officially handed over to the Khorog Municipality and the State Commission Department in the presence of Mayor Faromuz Imomberdiev on 18 August 2014.

The one-day "Accreditation of forensic organizations on the international standard ISO 17025: purpose, meaning and characteristics" seminar for specialists of the State Forensic Centre within the Ministry of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic (SFC KR) and representatives of other expert organizations is held today in Bishkek. The seminar has been arranged within the framework of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Program on Criminal Justice in the Kyrgyz Republic.

EBRD signs its largest project in Tajikistan to date

US$ 75 million from EBRD and donors for upgrade of Qairokkum hydropower plant. In its largest project in Tajikistan to date, and one of the largest in the country’s energy sector, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is providing a US$50 million loan to fund the first phase of the modernisation of the Qairokkum hydropower plant. Built in 1957, the plant is the only electricity generating facility in northern Tajikistan and supplies energy to over 500,000 homes in the Sugd region.
